Zayn Malik gets his first No. 1.

Zayn Malik scores his first No. 1… ever!

As predicted, Malik’s first Mind Of Mine release “Pillowtalk” was rewarded by debuting in the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. It marks Malik’s first trip to No. 1 on the Hot 100… even with One Direction, who peaked at No. 2 with “Best Song Ever” in 2013. Malik sold 267,000 downloads and 22.3 million streams in the U.S. (the fourth-largest streaming start ever). It’s worth noting Malik co-wrote the song alongside Anthony and Michael Hannides and Levi Lennox.

Malik is also No. 1 on the U.S. digital songs chart, No. 1 on the U.K. Singles Chart, No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Chart, No. 1 on Billboard’s On Demand Songs Chart, is the fastest debut artist track to reach No. 1 on Spotify world-wide and has the largest first week streams in the U.K. by any U.K. male artist.

“I am so happy to have my first number 1 in the U.K. and U.S.” Zayn said in a statement. “Thank you to all my fans and supporters, we have achieved this together and I am grateful.”

Drake also makes a debut on the charts this week. “Summer Sixteen” comes in at No. 6 with 215,000 downloads sold.
