What MTV Asia Thinks Of Britney Spears

December 30, 2004 By Jordan Miller

When she dances like a slave for you, her fists fly in a fury and she has enough chi to take on a whole monastery of Shaolin monks. But is her mastered technique enough to crown her Favourite Female?

Dubbed by MTV as “one of the last teenage pop superstars of the 20th century,” Spears enjoyed her breakthrough success at the end of 1998. She appeared in local dance revues and church choirs as a young girl, and at the age of eight auditioned for The Mickey Mouse Club, which she was featured on between the ages of 11 and 13. Her demo tape eventually landed in the hands of a Jive Records executive and a star was born.
Otherwise known as Mrs. Kevin Federline, Spears went on to become one of the biggest pop sensations ever following the success of Baby… One More Time, which pawned such hits as “Crazy,” “Sometimes” and of course the title track. The album held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts, and won her the award for Best Breakthrough Artist in 1999. Oops! … I Did It Again soon followed, bringing with it a dizzying deluge of awards show presentations, concert tours, TV appearances and performances.

Her latest offering In The Zone and her appearance in a Gladiator-style soft drink ad with Pink, Beyonce and Enrique Iglesias has put Spears back on track for more career success, after she was distracted by personal and management issues.
