Five Seconds of Summer actually moved up their album release date, so it’s an extra special victory for the Australian pop-punk band to duke it out with music royalty’s surprise-release and come out on top.

According to Billboard, Youngblood debuts at No. 1 with 142,000 equivalent album units (117,000 of those were in traditional album sales). They won by a long shot. Bey and JAY’s record comes in at No. 2 with 123,000 units (70,000 were in traditional album sales).

Billboard details the nitty gritty, including the rest of this week’s Top 10 o the Billboard 200.

It’s an interesting occurrence for The Carters. They haven’t experienced a hit like this in a minute, but as Beyonce points out on the record, she doesn’t really care about streaming numbers. Which doesn’t explain why the album was a Tidal exclusive for two days before becoming available on all streaming platforms, but that’s for another post.
