She left RCA for Atlantic Records.

Sia is about to become the new Christmas Queen!

Blasphemy or nah?

The Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter has ditched RCA records and signed with Atlantic (Kelly Clarkson, Charli XCX, Ed Sheeran and Charlie Puth, not to mention Meek Mill, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Janelle Monae, Wiz Khalifa, Sturgill Simpson, Paramore and Rita Ora). Her first release with the label will be a Christmas album crafted with producer Greg Kurstin. Billboard reports the LP is a collection of original songs, because of course Sia isn’t releasing an album of Christmas classics.

Here’s some press release jargon from Atlantic:

“Sia is a once-in-a-generation artist. Her extraordinary gifts as a singer and songwriter, her revolutionary approach to the art of performing, her groundbreaking videos – everything she does comes from a deep wellspring of inspiration and imagination,” said Atlantic Records Chairman/CEO Craig Kallman and Atlantic Records Chairman/COO Julie Greenwald in a statement. “Sia is that rare artist who has formed her own singular, boundless musical universe. We are so happy to welcome her into the Atlantic family and to be joining Sia on her amazing musical journey.”

This is extremely exciting! I had high hopes that Sia would release a proper new studio album, but this will do. I’m here for Xmas club anthems, because you know she can’t resist.
