She directs and stars in the made-for-TV movie.
Today’s your lucky day!
Mariah Carey unleashed the trailer for her upcoming movie, A Christmas Melody, which she’s directing and appearing in. It’s set to premiere on the Hallmark channel Dec. 19.
The “Infinity” singer requested Mean Girls actress Lacey Chabert for the lead role of Kristin, “a beautiful, stylish divorcee who is a talented clothing designer and her young daughter,” Hallmark says in the About section of the movie.
“Kristin has just had to close her small Manhattan boutique to return to her Ohio home town and live in her parents’ former home. It’s an adjustment for Kristin and Emily – especially when she runs into her former high school rival Melissa (Mariah Carey). Melissa is president of the PTA and tries to make Kristen feel as unwelcome as possible. Kristen and Emily struggle to find their new normal with the help of the music teacher Danny (Brennan Elliott) and Kristin’s Aunt Sarah (Kathy Najimy), the local coffee shop owner. With a little holiday magic and music, Kristin and Emily find that home is where the heart is.”
Carey can be seen clapping and saying “YES!” in the recently-released trailer, and that’s really all we were asking for. Watch below:
Not only is Mariah starring in her own Christmas movie, she has plans to perform at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and will release a children’s holiday book titled All I Want For Christmas Is You.
