AHHHHHH Kelly Clarkson!
Clarkson hasn’t looked back since she announced her partnership with Atlantic Records, admitting “they’re down to make whatever kind of record I’m into.” Particularly one with soul. “While we’ve always had soulful influences on my records, we’ve never actually made a soulful record. That is what Atlantic Records and I are about to do.”
Aside from a few soundtracks, including “The Cry Inside” for The Secret Scripture, “It’s Quiet Uptown” for Hamilton and a collaboration with Aloe Blacc on “Love Goes On” for The Shack, Clarkson hasn’t released any music that shows off her new direction. Then again, anything she sings sounds fresh.
How long until her next studio album? It could be this year. The Grammy Award winning singer is currently recording in the studio as recent as this week. She shared an in-studio snap during a mixing session, as well as a behind-the-scenes clip of her belting out something quite impressive.
