Rising indie-pop star’s gripping performance of new album track.
Halsey is making big waves in the music industry and it’s easy to see why.
She’s talented AF.
The blue-haired singer/songwriter put in a flawless performance of Hold Me Down for VEVO Lift. Playing the guitar and delivering practically perfect vocals, it’s clear Halsey is a star in the making:
Halsey has been doing promotional rounds as she introduces herself and her sound to the world, and as the August 28th release date for her debut album, BADLANDS, approaches.
The 20-year-old recently appeared on the cover of ELLE magazine and spoke frankly with the publication about dealing with mental illness:
“It just kind of feels right to say it here, so I’m going to go ahead: I have bipolar disorder. I’ve never talked about that in an interview before. I never brought it up. A lot of people I work with probably don’t know it. I think this a good time to talk about it. It’s just like, I was diagnosed when I was 16 or 17. My mom has it, too. I’m entitled to my emotions and, unfortunately, because of the circumstance that I deal with, it’s a little more than other people. But then there’s people who seek it out as a fetish almost. They fetishize girls with mental illness. It’s like, ‘Yeah, I want a crazy girl.’ Well, guess what? It’s not all painting at four o’clock in the morning and road trips and f*cking great things. Sometimes it’s throwing things and, like, getting hurt and having to pick someone up from the police station at two o’clock in the morning. My biggest fear has always been being that woman.”
