Wild and chill.

Wild and chill.

Austin, TX based indie-pop duo Taylor Baker and Drew Walker of The Wild Now are premiering their glorious, otherworldly mid-tempo new tune “Tongue Tied” on BreatheHeavy today (May 5). It’s the latest dreamy release off their sophomore EP Afterglow out May 19.

“Breathe in breathe out / We’ll fly higher than the others,” Baker sings over a building beat and jazz-infused pop production. Walker’s talents shine through on the guitar melodies his counterpart croons over. “See through my eyes / Cover me with all your colors / Feel the fire burning and the world’s colliding / Keep me falling deeper / We’re just getting started / No way to describe it / Gonna keep my eyes on you.”

“We wanted to create an upbeat track that you can move to,” The Wild Now tells BH. “We also wanted to incorporate trumpet, so this was the perfect song to do that with. As far as the lyrics go, it’s really just about letting go and losing yourself in a moment.”

As for their 2017 plans, the group will be opening for Bayonne in Austin on June 16 at Empire Control Room, playing the Austin City Limits music festival in the fall and most likely going on another tour. “We’ll also be creating a lot of new music,” they add.
