With one of the best opening weeks in 2016.
The Weeknd will soar to No. 1 next week with his new studio album Starboy.
The music world celebrated two things this weekend: Thanksgiving and The Weeknd.
Starboy, which features collaborations from Kendrick Lamar, Daft Punk, Cashmere Cat and Lana Del Rey, is predicted to open with the third-highest sales tally in 2016, behind Drake’s Views and Beyonce’s Lemonade.
If early estimates from Hits Daily Double are accurate, Tesfaye will secure the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart with 350-400K in sales plus streaming (225-275K physical album sales). The “I Feel It Coming” singer gave a rare on-camera interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe for Beats 1 Radio, as well as noticeable marketing from Spotify.
At the time of posting, the album was No. 1 on iTunes’ Top Albums chart, and the album title track sits at No. 2 behind Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles.”
