The Weeknd enlists Lana Del Rey and Daft Punk in his latest promotional singles off his forthcoming record.
The Weeknd sings with Lana Del Rey and Daft Punk in his latest Staryboy releases.
We’re a week away from Abel Tesfaye’s forthcoming studio album, and it’s shaping up to be a monster. The “False Alarm” crooner revealed the album tracklist Thursday afternoon, which features collaborations from Kendrick Lamar, Future, two from Daft Punk and several from Lana Del Rey. To keep the ball rolling, Tesfaye is premiering two new songs off the record: “Party Monster,” which was co-written by Lana Del Rey (she also makes a brief cameo in the background vocals towards the end of the song) and “I Feel It Coming” featuring Daft Punk.
It’s worth noting Del Rey isn’t listed on the song in the tracklist, however she is on the “Stargirl Interlude.” This release also marks Daft Punk’s second feature on the album, the first of course being the album title track.
“Party Monster” is a brooding synthy affair that’s the best release off Starboy we’ve heard thus far, and “Starboy” is a legitimate smash. In it, Weeknd boasts bout his badassery.
Save your mind, I’m yours for the night / I’m the realest, she said I’m the realest / Head be genius, **** game be the meanest.
In “I Feel It Coming,” Weeknd’s warm tone is backed by a tropical-tinged beat and the electronic embrace from Daft Punk as he reassures his love there’s nothing to fear.
“You’ve been scared of love and what it did to you / You don’t have to run / I know what you been through / Just a simple touch and it can set you free / We don’t have to rush when you’re alone with me.”
