Taylor Swift’s “1989” debuts atop the Billboard 200.

As predicted, Taylor Swift’s “1989” sold well over a million units on its opening week – 1.287 million copies according to Nielsen SoundScan to be exact.

It’s her fourth No. 1 album and her third to sell a million units in its opening week – making her the first HBIC to do so.

She was ~this close~ to beating out Britney Spears’ 14-year-old record for biggest opening week by a female artist with “Oops!… I Did It Again” at 1.3 million, but missed it by just a few thousand.

Regardless, it’s still an incredible feat – it’s the biggest release of 2014 and is just the 19th album to sell a million copies in a week since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991.

Congrats, Taylor! The album is bomb and I’m still playing it on repeat. I’m still playing it on repeat.

Do you love “1989?”
