The Katy Perry Concert I Mean Super Bowl To Break Ratings Records

Thank Britney Spears and Katy Perry for the Super Bowl’s all time high ratings.

And Lindsay Lohan’s All State commercial.

More people watched the Super Bowl on Sunday than the President’s latest speech, and why wouldn’t they? Did Obama throw Taylor Swift shade or having dancing sharks when he took the stage? He certainly didn’t.

Who knows how many people would’ve left their Super Bowl party to drive home and take a nap induced from chips and beer during the halftime show if it wasn’t for Katy Perry’s giant Power Ranger lion entrance or her interactive stage projections (did I mention she had dancing sharks), but lucky for the “Firework” singer her family-friendly antics worked. A lot of people tuned in!

The numbers aren’t finalized, but it appears Sunday’s battle between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks will break U.S. records. From Variety:

After averaging a 44.6 rating in its first half-hour and a 48.0 in the second, Super Bowl XLIX topped a 50 rating in each half hour from 8 p.m. ET to the game’s conclusion, peaking with a 52.9/73 from 10 to 10:15 p.m. ET. The Katy Perry-led halftime show did roughly a 50.8/73 in the overnights from 8 to 8:30 p.m. ET, up from a 48.6/71 for Bruno Mars’ concert a year ago on Fox

I’m just going to leave this here
