Britney called it.

How’s this for a throwback?

In April 2013, BreatheHeavy posted a letter Britney wrote for Adele’s Elle magazine issue, praising the “Hello” singer for not getting caught up in the dark side of the music. In recent interviews, Adele admitted she took a break from music in recent years to be a mom and avoid the chaos superstardom can create. She also said there wasn’t anything important worth writing songs about yet.

We’re bringing it back for Throwback Thursday to celebrate the release of Adele’s new record – which might break *NSYNC’s 15-year-old record for most units sold in a week.

Britney’s note said:

“Her voice is just not like any other voice out there. It draws the emotion out of you. A lot of her songs kind of put me in a trance. We were both at the VMAs, and they were like, ‘Do you want to meet Adele?’ And I was like, ‘Um, yes!’ She was even better than I imagined, in person – she’s so incredibly down-to-earth. You can tell she hasn’t gotten caught up in that pop music machine thing – which is easy to get caught in – and she hasn’t just listened to what executives were telling her to do. All of her stuff is hers, and that’s really amazing.”

Adele’s new album, 25, debuts on Friday (Nov. 20).
