ANOTHER UPDATE: I was told by the higher ups to take the full song down and replace it with the approved YouTube version. The last thing I want to do is piss off Taylor Swift. Then again, maybe she’ll write a song about me. Full version removed…

Update: The full song leaked. Hear it after the jump!

Searching for a sound we hadn’t heard before.

Taylor Swift shared a preview of the first song off “1989” called “Welcome To New York.” The song’s co-written with Ryan Tedder and features a similar forced poppy feel to “Shake It Off.” Not that I mind.

She says of the song:

“I wanted to start the album with this song because New York has been an important landscape and location for the story of my life in the last couple of years. I dreamt about moving to New York, I obsessed over moving to New York and then I did it.

The inspiration I found in that city is kind of hard to describe, and hard to compare to any other force of inspiration I’ve ever experienced in my life. It’s like it’s an electric city.”
