Swift asks Cara about her new single “Here,” and her Italian heritage in a sit-down interview.
Taylor Swift interviews Alessia Cara.
We knew Cara was Swift approved after the 1989 singer shared a list of songs that will “make your life more awesome,” including the former’s “I’m Yours” song off her 2015 Four Pink Walls EP.
Not long after, Swift invited Cara on stage to sing her hit single, “Here,” which peaks at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, and was a point of discussion in a new sit-down interview between the two ladies.
After their on-stage collaboration together on Halloween, the two went backstage to chat about Cara’s latest body of work, the meaning behind “Here,” her background and totally not being a loner.
“It’s funny because now I hear that it gets played at parties,” Cara says of her song “Here,” a song about the express desire to leave a lame party. “If you think about it, it’s such a miserable song for a single. But it worked, right?”
Cara also details growing up with two Italian immigrant parents, singing at a very young age and how that shaped who she is.
“You’re not a loner though,” Swift tells her. “It’s less of a loner vibe and more of a ‘very in touch with reality’ vibe.”
