Her multiple personalities take center stage.
Taylor Swift is back with a vengeance.
Her new music video for “Look What You Made Me Do,” the lead single off the pop star’s forthcoming album, Reputation, sheds light on the harsh criticism she constantly endures.
“Here Lies Taylor Swift’s Reputation,” reads a tombstone in the opening scene of the Joseph Kahn-directed video before a frightening zombie Taylor emerges from the ground.
From there, the singer soaks in a tub of diamonds, swings around in a golden cage and executes some stylized choreography Beyonce style, but it all leads up to the video’s climax: Taylor’s past… relived. Recognizable Taylors from key moments throughout her illustrious career battle it out in a dog pile before arguing with one another (there’s even a dig at Katy Perry, because she keeps receipts). Taylor flips the script with little subtlety.
It’s easily her most polished video to date, and definitely the most “pop.” Now if only her reputations can work in sync.
