No Taylor, No Grammys.

For weeks, various websites confirmed Taylor Swift would attend the Grammys. There was even a seating chart floating around that claimed she had a spot next to BTS. However, a new report from Us Weekly says otherwise.

They confirmed Swift won’t be in attendance on Sunday. Are we surprised?

Swift’s new album only received a handful of nominations. Her seventh studio release, Lover, is up for Best Pop Vocal Album. “You Need to Calm Down” and the title track are nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year, respectively.

Lover was snubbed from the Album of the Year category.

Swift’s absence follows a lawsuit from the Grammys’ former president, who filed a lawsuit against the organization. According to the LA Times, it includes “charges of Grammy voting impropriety, allegations of sexual harassment by the academy’s legal counsel Joel Katz and the revelation that former academy president Neil Portnow had been accused of **** by an academy member.”

“LOVER IS NOMINATED FOR SONG OF THE YEAR AT THE GRAMMYS!!!” Swift wrote on her Instagram Stories after the nominations were released. “Wrote this one alone in a quiet moment and seeing it honored in the Song of the Year category by my peers means so much, wow…3 noms guys!!!!”

The 2020 Grammy Awards air on CBS Sunday, January 26, at 8 p.m. ET.

  1. To be fair….. ‘Lover’ isn’t nearly as cohesive a collection as ‘Reputation’ or ‘1989’. As Pop albums go, those were brilliant. The themes were solid, the lyrics, the sound…. she killed it. ‘Lover’ is a great album, but I would actually agree that it doesn’t belong in the Album of the Year category. There were better, more cohesive options this year. I think it’s definitely a strong contender for the Pop album category.
