Watch Beyonce’s Larger Than Life Music Video For “Spirit” From ‘The Lion King’ Soundtrack

Beyonce curated a new album for The Lion King titled ‘The Gift,’ and its first visual has arrived.

The record, which drops July 19, features global artists set to the sounds of Africa. This is in addition to the film’s soundtrack, which is available to stream below.

See the entire soundtrack for ‘The Gift’ here.

“This is sonic cinema,” Beyoncé said of the new album. “This is a new experience of storytelling. I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film. It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn’t one sound. It is influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip hop and Afro Beat.”

The first release from The Gift is “Spirit,” and the video for it is out now. In the glorious clip, Beyonce rocks chic, African-inspired ensembles while posing in the desert. Blue Ivy also makes an appearance.

“I wanted to put everyone on their own journey to link the storyline,” she continued. “Each song was written to reflect the film’s storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation. It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers. Authenticity and heart were important to me.”

Composer For ‘The Lion King’ Says Beyonce’s New Song Could Be Bigger Than “The Circle Of Life”

Beyonce’s secret song could eclipse one of the greatest soundtracks of all time.

Lebo M, who co-curated the original soundtrack for The Lion King, as well as the new one, believes Beyonce’s contribution could outperform “The Circle Of Life,” which is arguably one of the most-famous songs of all time.

In a new interview, Lebo was grilled to divulge information regarding the new Bey track, which is still unnamed. Though he wouldn’t reveal anything, he’s confident it’ll be massive.

“I can be ambitious and say I have a feeling the song just might be bigger than ‘Circle Of Life,’” he said.

The TBA song is track #14 on the forthcoming soundtrack (our July 11), which would place it in between “Reflections of Mufasa” and before “The Battle for Pride Rock” – a perfect time for Nala to sing to Simba before he heads to battle.

Check out the full tracklist here.

The Lion King director, Jon Favreau, had this to say about Nala’s expanded role:

“In the original film, her role is not as large as in the stage production, and we definitely drew inspiration, and that was one of the areas where we were going to expand this.”

The Lion King hits theaters July 19.

Blink And You’ll Miss Her: Spot Beyonce In New Lion King Promo

Perfect harmony.

Disney is not allowing Beyonce to overshadow their film by featuring her on most of the soundtrack for The Lion King. The tracklist for the film has arrived, and it features Beyonce on one track: “Can You Feel The Love Tonight?” There’s also one that’s TBA, and it appears to be a new Beyonce solo.

The TBA song is track #14, which would place it in between “Reflections of Mufasa” and before “The Battle for Pride Rock” – a perfect time for Nala to sing to Simba before he heads to battle.

The Lion King director, Jon Favreau, had this to say about Nala’s expanded role: “In the original film, her role is not as large as in the stage production, and we definitely drew inspiration, and that was one of the areas where we were going to expand this.”

Favreau also confirmed there’s a new song by Beyonce.

“Yeah, it doesn’t replace anything. We have all the original songs, but there’s a song that she performed and wrote in the spirit of the production along with working with Lebo M., who’s part of it with Hans Zimmer. They were all collaborating with her and helping to bring this new piece of music into a film where there’s already a very established musical personality to the piece. So it was nice of them to have them working with her to allow the new song to feel organically a part of the new production.”

Disney unveiled a new trailer for the clip, which features a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance from Beyonce. Bey also shared a new promotional photo on the Gram.
