So What Is The Truth? Retail Giants Still List Nicki Minaj’s Original ‘Queen’ Release Date

Interesting.

Nicki Minaj’s new album Queen might get delayed, might not.

UPDATE // AUGUST 6:

Barbz are a bit confused.

Nicki Minaj supposedly pushed back her album release a week to August 17 (the same day as Ariana Grande’s new album Sweetener drops) due to a sampling copyright issue (read below), but according to Target and Amazon, it’s still set for an August 10 release date. In other words… no one knows – not even Nicki.

TBH this is one of the messiest album rollouts I’ve seen in a minute.

I went to my local Target in Michigan! ?#Queen — 8/10! pic.twitter.com/Vngn3SlKkH

I’m still thinking Nicki really thought she could play with us saying the album’s coming on 08/17 when surely all the Queen copies were already done and sent by the time she said all of that… NICKI U THINK U SMARTER THAN US?

UPDATE // AUGUST 2:

Awkward… Nicki Minaj And Ariana Grande’s New Albums Drop On The Same Day Now

Confirmed! Nicki’s new album debuts on August 17 now, the very same day Ariana Grande’s new record Sweetener hits. This should be interesting.

UPDATE // AUGUST 1:

Nicki’s Queen album rollout has been a bit of a mess, and it could get worse. The rapper is contemplating on whether or not to push back her album release date.

In a now-deleted Tweet, Nicki says there’s a song on the album that’s causing a shake-up.

“Tracy Chapman, can you please hit me. ??‍♀️ omg for the love of #Queen,” she wrote. “So there’s a record on #Queen that features 1of the greatest rappers of all time. Had no clue it sampled the legend #TracyChapman – do I keep my date & lose the record? Or do I lose the record & keep my date? ??‍♀️ do we push #Queen back 1week? Ugh! I’m torn, y’all help.”

She even asked followers to vote (below).

My personal vote: just delay and get it right. What’s another week or two at this point?

UPDATE // MAY 24:

I bring unfortunate news.

Nicki Minaj has delayed her forthcoming album, Queen, by nearly two months.

Instead of the June 15 release date like she had planned (the same day as Xtina’s Liberation), the new release date is August 10.

Nicki confirmed the news. Le sigh…

EARLIER // MAY 15:

Nicki Minaj knows her demographic. The rap queen announced her forthcoming album is titled Queen and debuts June 15. Listen to a bit of the album title track below:

Nicki confirmed the news at the Met Gala.

See what Exhale is saying about this!

It’s worth mentioning Christina Aguilera’s new album, Liberation, also debuts on June 15. So there’s that.

Check out the announcement and “Queen” teaser below:
