Judges’ Houses Rejects of 2012

Based on various sources, here’s a partial list of contestants who made it to the “judges’ houses” phase of the competition but were eliminated.

Daryl Black, 37. Audition recap: This married father of five performed Gym Class Heroes’ “Stereo Hearts” and got unanimous “yes” votes from the judges.

David Correy, 26. Audition recap: Heavily tattooed Correy talked about longing to be reunited with his birth mother, who gave him up for adoption when she was a teenager. He sang Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” and got “yes” votes from all of the judges.

Jessica Espinoza, 22. Audition recap: With a pink streaks in her black hair and a sob story about being poor all of her life, Espinoza stood out with her version of Pink’s “Nobody Knows.” She got positive feedback and “yes” votes from all of the judges.

JT (real name: James “Jim” Tanner), 14. This rapper’s “X Factor” audition was not shown on TV. Votefortheworst.com describes him as cocky and “this year’s Astro.”

Sister C, ages 17 to 21. Audition recap: This country trio of sisters (Carli Rayne, Celbi Rheygan, and Cirby Manchaca) performed Pistol Annies’ “Hell on Heels.” All of the judges voted “yes” for Sister C.

Nick Youngerman, 20. Audition recap: His version of Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby” had Spears on her feet, smiling and dancing. He got enthusiastic “yes” votes from all of the judges.

Cowell put together a boy band that he hoped would be the American version of One Direction (a group consisting of five rejected “X Factor” U.K. solo singers), but this American boy band was ultimately eliminated at “judges’ houses.”

This failed One Direction wannabe group consisted of these five vocalists:

Austin Corini, 16. Audition recap: Corini (who has a platinum blonde Tintin hairdo) had a very staged portion of his audition in which two girls went up to him and asked for his autograph. He sang Hunter Hayes’ “Wanted,” and got “yes” votes from all of the judges.

Brandon Hassan, 16. Audition recap: He sang Ray LaMontagne’s “Trouble” and got unanimous “yes” votes from the judges.

Josh Metzler, 16. His “X Factor” audition was not shown on TV. However, he was a contestant on the kids’ singing contest “Majors & Minors,” which aired in 2011 on the Hub network.

Johnny Maxwell, 16. Audition recap: Maxwell is a hip-hop artist who performed an original song called “All These People.” He got enthusiastic “yes” votes from all of the judges.

Aaron Stuart, 16. Audition recap: He talked incessantly about how much he missed his girlfriend because they are in a long-distance relationship. All of the judges except Spears gave him “yes” votes for his version of B.o.B. featuring Hayley Williams’ “Airplanes.”
