Pop music is shook.

Pop’s hidden superstar is about to sing her own hits.

Julia Michaels has made a name for herself as a songwriter for the stars, from Bieber and Selena to Gwen and Britney, and is about to let her own voice be heard.

She has signed a record deal with Republic Records as a solo artist, with her debut EP already confirmed for an early 2017 release.

The 22-year-old has been all over Billboard as a credited songwriter but has never released any solo material.

She recently tested the waters with a feature on Kygo’s latest single “Carry Me“, which they performed together at the 2016 Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Rio.

Between Bieber’s mega-hit “Sorry” and Selena’s “Hands To Myself“, the songs she has co-written have racked up over 8 billion streams. BILLION. The industry is shook.

So it should come as no surprise that Republic are excited to sign a talent like Michaels. “From the first day I met Julia it was clear that she was not just a writer, but a very unique artist,” Republic Group President Charlie Walk said.

“Her trademark vocals, writing prowess, and musical vision puts her in a category all her own. We’re thrilled to be a part of her upcoming journey and to share her art with the world.”

And we’re excited to witness it all! In the words of Olly Alexander, “y’all ain’t ready.”

Also… Julia recently had some very kind words to say about Britney on Twitter during a Twitter Q&A when asked about their “Glory” writing sessions, as she has 7 writing credits on the album (including the new single “Slumber Party“!)
