“Don’t ever give up on love.”

Singer-songwriter Skyler joins forces with MacKenzie Bourg on new ballad “Carnival.”

Skyler has released a couple of pop gems in the last year, including “I Just Wanna Dance” and “Fire” featuring Snoop Dogg, but the rising teen star is mellowing out her catalogue with a slow-tempo song produced by DK (Lana Del Rey “Summertime Sadness” Radio Mix) titled “Carnival.” It’s the lead single of her upcoming Randy Jackson-produced-EP and features American Idol finalist MacKenzie Bourg.

“The ballad is about missing someone, a lost love,” Skyler tells BreatheHeavy.com. “It’s about rekindling a flame, after realizing that no matter how hard you try to move on, the heart wants what the heart wants. Sometimes life and love can be confusing, but never give up and always listen to your heart.”

She adds: “As a child I would always go to the carnival in my home town and I loved seeing all the happy couples, like the guys winning teddy bears for their girlfriends and giving them their jackets when they were cold. Seeing them holding hands, on the ferris wheel… I just couldn’t wait to grow up to experience all of those things myself! After all, I’ve always been a bit of a hopeless romantic, which is the main inspiration behind ‘Carnival.'”

“Grabbing stars from the Ferris wheel, wishing this is how we’d always feel”

What does Skyler want people to take away from her new tune? “Don’t ever give up on love,” she said, “because sometimes you have to take different paths in life. Yet more often than not, they lead back to the same place.”
