The singer has been sued for defamation after claims she made about Prince.
Together, Prince and Sinead O Connor delivered one of the 1990s biggest hits, Nothing Compares 2 U.
But troubled singer O’Connor never musically made it past the massive success achieved with the Prince-penned slow jam.
And now, in the aftermath of Prince’s sudden passing, as cause of death speculation continues, Sinead O’Connor has found herself in hot water again over claims of drug use.
Sinead recently claimed on Facebook that late night talk show host Arsenio Hall, a longtime friend of Prince, supplied drugs to Prince, who is rumoured to have died from a possible addiction to painkillers. Hall responded by suing O’Connor for defamation:
His lawyers, Marty Singer and Lynda Goldman, filed the suit Thursday morning, in which Arsenio calls Sinead a “desperate attention-seeker” for posting an incendiary rant on Facebook earlier this week. She called Prince a “longtime hard drug user” who got his supply from “Arsenio Hall (AKA Prince’s and Eddie Murphy’s *****).” In the suit, Arsenio flat out denies ever supplying Prince with illegal drugs — and adds, he hasn’t had contact with Sinead for 25 years. He also denies spiking her with drugs back in the day … as she claimed.
Today, Sinead once again took to Facebook and unleashed on Hall:
Despite scoring a worldwide smash because of Prince, Sinead was said to be on very negative terms with the legendary singer, even coming to blows with him at one point:
The toxicology reports from Prince’s autopsy are yet to be released to the public.
