Sia's New Album Is Written, Recorded And Named

Sia’s new album is nothing personal.

The “Wolves” crooner revealed she’s already written and recorded her follow-up to 1000 Forms of Fear, an album she released only to rid herself of her publishing contract.

“Basically, I put this out to get out of my publishing deal,” Sia tells NME. “I was planning to be a pop song writer for other artists. But my publishing deal was as an artist so I had to put one more album out. I didn’t want to get famous so I kept all the songs I wanted and had a lot of fun making it.”

Hence this:

Sia's New Album Is Written, Recorded And Named

She explains the meaning behind her new album title, “This Is Acting,” claiming she wrote them for other people but then decided they could go F themselves and she’d take them instead.

“I’m super productive. I have a full album ready to go and it’s much more pop,” she revealed. “I’m calling it ‘This Is Acting’ because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go in thinking ‘this is something I would say’. It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.”

It’s interesting to see Sia’s evolution in the world of music – specifically her stance on fame and the role it plays in her artistry. She understands it’s the nature of the beast, but she’ll be damned if it overshadows her craft. Then again, going out of your way to hide your face does cause a bit of commotion. Curious to see how she approaches the “This Is Acting” era!
