Gomez shows off her singing skills in a rare live performance.
Selena Gomez…? sings a candid cover of MAGIC!’s hit song.
We were beginning to wonder if Selena Gomez was throwing in the towel. She hasn’t performed either “Good For You” (aside from her appearance with Taylor Swift on the 1989 stage) or “Same Old Love” from Revival thus far, despite the former peaking at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. That all changes today (Sep. 25) when Gomez performed a raw cover of MAGIC!’s chart topping song, “Rude,” on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge.
She certainly relies heavy on the background singers who drown out her voice, but we applaud her for stepping out and trying something new (sigh at cheering for a live performance). If you don’t want to be disillusioned, please stay out of the YouTube comments on the video.
Notable ones include:
“is her name Selena Gomez cuz she didn’t seem too sure about it…”
“That drummer was spectacular! Can’t say the same for Selena. No surprise there. I watched this video to see if her singing improved over the years. And the answer was a big no.”
“What’s wrong with you? She actually sings better than I’ve expected, lol, she has a soft and a law voice, but she did it right, damn it, I’m proud of her. <3" Listen here:
And for the record, MAGIC! approves.
