Now that things are seemingly back on track, Gomez promises to keep focused on crafting a followup to 2015’s Revival.

Selena Gomez is hard at work on her third studio album.

The pop star has been cooking up new tunes for a while now, but a breakup (and makeup) and a major health complication forced Selena to focus her attention elsewhere this year.

Now that things are seemingly back on track, Gomez promises to keep focused on crafting a followup to 2015’s Revival.

Selena shared a photo of her in the recording studio and promises to be there “until the next year.”

She also gave a revealing interview to BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show about it.

“I think It’s fair to say that people know the year I’ve had,” Selena said, referring to her kidney transplant and battle with lupus. “And I’ve poured my heart into my music and I’ve wanted it to be fresh. It wasn’t really about charts for me or numbers, it was more just about what could I creatively do for my music.”

“Yes, I can successfully say that my inspiration for this next album is in full motion and it will be very soon,” Selena continued. “I love surprising people and creating new areas of music I can explore… you know, I was taking some time off for my health and it was good, but now I get to be here, I’ll be back. I’ll be back here with you and hopefully talking about that album.” Listen to the interview at the bottom of the post.

That’s great news, and we’re going to hold her to that. I think she should be allowed out for the occasional breath of fresh air and bite to eat, but other then that, homegirl needs to stay holed up. “Bad Liar” is a pop gem, and the world needs more of them. Sidenote: I’m still pressed that it didn’t receive a Grammy nomination, but hopefully Sel’s new tunes will appeal to the recording academy in 2019.

Currently. Until the next year. Here’s where I’ll be.
