She says she has a lot to prove in her new interview with Elvis Duran.
Selena’s doing her hair up real, real nice.
We’re going to avoid saying “duh” to Selena Gomez’s comment she isn’t the greatest singer in the world, because her new jam “Good For You” is currently one of our favorites. And plus, pop music doesn’t need exceptional singers. It needs unique tone, and that she has. Her slow-burner with A$AP Rocky has major potential to rocket up the charts this summer, and its number one peak on iTunes proves it.
“For this record I wanted to find my sweet spot, if you will,” she explained to the Elvis Duran breakfast show. “I know that maybe vocally I wouldn’t be the greatest singer in the world, but I know my strengths now. I know that I can translate emotion and heart, and I’ve written more than I’ve ever written on any album for this record. I have a lot to prove, but I think, for instance, this song is totally in my register. It’s smoky and fun and sexy.”
She adds, “I have a lot to prove, but I think, for instance, this song is totally in my register. It’s smoky and fun and sexy,” she smiled.
Gomez faced a lot of heat for her past relationship with Justin Bieber and body image recently, but Gomez says it’s just part of growing up.
“I get sad, I get anxious, I get emotional, I get happy,” she said. “Especially in my 20s, my gosh! I feel like I’m figuring out who I am and I’m constantly being criticized.”
