Aussie Sam Smith fans are now the ones asking “stay with me” after the UK sensation has declared his Oz tour is over.

The 22-year-old star took to Facebook to make the announcement, citing severe vocal damage as the reason:

The news comes not long after Jessie J also cancelled her Australian tour due to a mystery illness.

Smith cancelling his tour means he will now also not appear at the 2015 Logie Awards as previously planned (think the Aussie equivalent to the Emmys).

The few shows Smith did get to perform here garnered mixed reviews from critics but fans were not deterred, selling out his shows in Brisbane and Sydney.

The singer showed his appreciation for his fanbase – Sailors, as they’re known – by getting a small anchor tattoo on his forearm while staying in Sydney.
