Sam Smith And John Legend Re-record "Lay Me Down"

In an effort to relieve the world from poverty, Sam Smith teamed up with John Legend for a re-worked version of Smith’s song “Lay Me Down.”

The two will perform the ballad in London at the Comic Relief: Face the Funny event on Friday March 13 for BBC One.

See what Smith has to say about song below:

“Lay Me Down holds a very special place in my heart,” Smith said. “Not only did I perform it at the Brits, I’m now going to perform it live on the Red Nose Day show with the extremely talented John Legend, which is so exciting.”

Smith added: “I recently visited a Comic Relief-funded project in my hometown which supports the young LGBT community in London.”

John Legend had a few words about the project as well, saying:

“I’m extremely proud that my single will help raise money for projects like this and many others in the UK and across Africa,” said Legend. “Sam is such a talented artist. We’ve been looking forward to working together for a while now.”

Universal said it will donate all profits from the sale of the single to Comic Relief, so be sure to buy it on iTunes!

Both singers are incredibly talented in their own right, but together they create a unique soulful slow-jam – all for a good cause.
