The film’s director said Sade was “kind + giving. A goddess.”
Miraculously, Sade is contributing a song on Disney’s A Wrinkle In Time soundtrack.
No one saw this coming, not even the film’s director Ava DuVernay (Selma and 13th).
DuVernay Tweeted that she reached out to Sade but did not expect it to come to fruition.
“I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway,” DuVernay wrote. “She was kind + giving. A goddess. We began a journey together that I’ll never forget.”
DuVernay added the song is titled “Flower of the Universe” and says “it’s a dream come true.”
I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway. She was kind + giving. A goddess. We began a journey together that I’ll never forget. Proud to announce that Sade has created an original song for WRINKLE IN TIME. It’s entitled “Flower of the Universe.” And it’s a dream come true. pic.twitter.com/FdXrZ1MFMO

What else do you need to know? Sia, Kehlani, FreeStyle Fellowship, Chloe x Halle, and a collaboration between DJ Khaled and Demi Lovato (listen to a preview of that here) are also featured on the soundtrack (sidenote: is there a soundtrack Sia is NOT featured on? Asking for a friend). There’s also a No I.D. remix of the Sade song in the works.
Here’s the full list of original songs:
“Flower of the Universe” – Sade (plus a No I.D. Remix version)
“I Believe” – DJ Khaled feat. Demi Lovato
“Magic” – Sia
“Let Me Live” – Kehlani
“Warrior” – Chloe x Halle
“Park Bench People” – FreeStyle Fellowship
The A Wrinkle In Time soundtrack and film are both out March 9th.
