You don’t like ads, we don’t like ad block. $5 a month will help us expand our influence in pop music news AND provide a better user experience.
We’ve created (and will continue to create) beautiful, original content for subscribers, including in-depth thought pieces, investigative essays, interviews, features, podcasts, videos, special Exhale forum privileges, access to our 15-year-old archive and more!
Nope! Members that subscribe get unlimited access to our premium content (also delivered via email) and an ad free experience. If you don’t want to subscribe, you can still access all of BreatheHeavy’s breaking news content and two “RX” articles per month.
Totally feel you. Trust us when we say our decision to venture into subscription territory was years in the making (we know most people expect content for free). Prior to this, we made 100% of our revenue through advertising, which is on the decline for the collective Internet (plus the whole ad block thing is not working so well for us). More importantly, we feel like we can provide better content and a superior user experience through memberships. We anticipate other music sites to follow suit in the coming years, and wanted to lead the way.
Honestly… no! If someone prefers to casually browse and come back in a few months, that’s cool. We still love them! But Breathe Heavy RX is meant for people who LOVE Britney / pop music / BreatheHeavy. Can anyone join? Absolutely! Should everyone? That’s a no no.
Yes! No questions asked. There’s no contract or long-term commitment. In the future, we’ll create 3-month and yearly tiers that will save you some coins, but for now we’re launching with one option: month-to-month.
Yes! We are using very powerful, secure and safe software to power the memberships. The technology integrates with PayPal Standard, PayPal Express Checkout, Authorize.net (AIM & ARB) and Stripe. These gateways allow for a much more secure and PCI compliant ability to charge credit cards and each provide a mechanism for issuing automatic recurring payments. You have nothing to worry about.
*Insert snake emojis here* BreatheHeavy is 15-years-old. We’ve seen and heard it all, and anticipate a backlash. Change is scary! But the best things come from new ideas. It boils down to this: we want to create meaningful relationships with people, grow, and create memorable content – all for the price of a cup of coffee.
