Rihanna Shuts Down Beyonce Fan-Fueld Rivalry Following Grammy Nominations

Rihanna is petty af, but there’s no beef with Beyonce.

Rihanna is petty af, but there’s no beef with Beyonce.

Beyonce leads the pack with the most most nominations at the 2017 Grammys, including nods in the Album of the Year (Lemonade) and Record of the Year (“Formation”) categories. Rihanna, who received eight nominations total, will face Beyonce for the Record of the Year for “Work”, as well as a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Riri’s “Kiss It Better” is also nominated for Best R&B Song, while Anti is up for Best Urban Contemporary Album.

Can’t we all just get along?

For one reason or another, the BeyHive and The Navy reignited the non-existent feud between the two superstars, but what threw gasoline onto the fire was a suspect “like” on Instagram from badgalriri. She double tapped a photo with the caption:

“Congrats and all to @badgalriri and all for her 8 Grammy nods but tbh **** [the Academy] because they snubbed her for Song of the Year and Album of the Year… They add: “I think they didn’t want her tied or passing someone else *cough cough* [Lemon Emoji]. Cause if they wouldn’t have played her she would have been in the lead with most Grammy nods. **** u Grammys, ANTI did amazing things this year and y’all played her. I think y’all shook!”

#rihanna liked this #BEYONCE shade after #grammys snubbed Rihanna.

From there, The BeyHive spammed Rihanna’s Instagram photos with bee and lemon emojis.

The Navy retaliated with red balloon emojis on Beyonce’s Instagram.

The tirades between both fanbases caught Rihanna’s attention, so she commented via Instagram to clarify:

“I never actually read your caption, thought the pic was funny and moved right along! I’m petty af, yes. But this is just unnecessary! I wish y’all would drop this topic and see things from the bigger picture! We don’t need to be putting black women against each other!”

This is all a big waste of time, and marks the second instance where Rihanna had to step in and clear the air. Back in April, Rihanna told Vogue:

“Here’s the deal. They just get so excited to feast on something that’s negative. Something that’s competitive. Something that’s, you know, a rivalry. And that’s just not what I wake up to. Because I can only do me. And nobody else is going to be able to do that.”
