Mariah Carey has reportedly split with controversial manager Stella Bulochnikov.
Mariah Carey has had a very interesting career these last few years, and that’s in part thanks to Bulochnikov. I don’t want to list low points, but I will anyway: the New Year’s Eve debacle, her reality television show on E! and the beyond lazy stage presence. People can’t blame Bulochnikov for it all, but she guided Mimi down the path and it ultimately did more damage than not.
Fortunately, Mariah has wised up. Page Six claims she and Bulochnikov have gone their separate ways, though they’ll still work together on “a number of business ventures.”
Here’s a statement from Bulochnikov on behalf of both to Page Six:
“After working together for almost three years, Mariah Carey and Stella Bulochnikov have determined that it is in their mutual best interest to part ways on day-to-day management.”
It’s also rumored Mariah parted ways with her musical director, Big Jim Wright.
Is a new Mimi on the horizon? Or is she simply caving to the industry pressure to fire Bulochnikov? You may recall Carey’s ex-husband, Tommy Mottola, who helped launch Mariah’s career in 1990 with “Vision of Love,” penned an open-letter urging the elusive chanteuse to find new representation. “My only advice is that she should hire more seasoned and respected professionals to surround her and help her with her career,” he said. Read the full letter here. Wow, Mariah listened.
