T.I. feels for Iggy Azalea, but at the same time has run out of excuses for her behavior.

Rapper T.I. Cuts Ties With Iggy Azalea, She Responds: Not So Fast!

Iggy Azalea found out T.I. was done with her when everyone else did.

Iggy Azalea successfully completed another Twitter rant on Thursday, this time to clear the air after T.I. announced he’s cutting professional ties with the “Pretty Girls” rapper. Several years ago, T.I. mentored Iggy and guided her through a mixtape and collaborated on several of the Australian’s earlier songs. Iggs saw major mainstream success when she struck gold on “Fancy” with Charli XCX, but since then she’s faced major scrutiny for cultural appropriation, her physical appearance and whether she’s talented or simply lucky.

It appears Iggy can’t distance herself from the attacks, because she’s open fired at critics, whether it’s fellow rappers like Q-Tip, Eve, Jill Scott or a TMZ photographer. She hasn’t grasped that wide-spread fame means wide-spread criticism.

So does T.I. think Iggy needs to respond to every mention? “Absolutely not.” the rapper told New York’s Hot 97 Ebro in the Morning when asked about Iggy’s online social media wave of Tweets and defensive comments. “I think she should focus on what got her here — and that’s her music, her performing, and continue to present her talents to the world,” he explained.

He adds he “took a bit of a rest stop” in his relationship with her, but admits she’s had it tough.

“I ain’t gonna make no excuses,” he tells the radio hosts. “In her defense, she had a lot thrown at her at one time. Any human being anywhere [is gonna] have a hard time adjusting.”

“It’s very difficult to be the new kid and to be the **** of the jokes…It came at a time when culturally in this nation—when she’s not from here—we were actually looking for a source to place that pent-up aggression. Some stuff they brought upon themselves. In some cases, it kind of was the easiest place to put some pent-up aggression.”

The breaking point was Q-Tip’s Twitter explosion towards Iggy last December, when he accused her of cultural appropriation and schooled her about the history of rap. That’s when T.I. decided to leave well enough alone.

“After I kind of had smoothed it over, like okay, ‘What is really meant to be said here is…’ Then, after it was cool, you know what I mean, everything was cool,” T.I. recalled. “And then they kind of came back and undid what I had just [orchestrated].”

In the end, the rapper feels Iggy is in good hands with her entourage and will leave it at that.

“I really do feel that they just needed a little more time to adjust, which I feel they can do,” he revealed. “They have the talent, they have the charisma… They have all the tools necessary to move beyond those situations.”

What’s interesting though, is T.I.’s separation from Iggy was a surprise to her. She took to Twitter on Thursday to clarify, saying “Heres the deal, I am still signed to @tip and do business with him,” she writes. “The first ive heard of us having an ‘issue’ is via a radio interview.”

She adds, “Personally, i dont think the radio is the place to talk about your personal issues with someone thats part of your team… He seems to think theres nothing wrong with what he said, everybody else seems to disagree.”

“Im sure tip will publicly clarify what he meant when he feels he has the right platform to do so and other than that, im chillin.”
