It appears Rihanna has plans to release two new albums.
Rolling Stone published a huge report about Rihanna’s forthcoming dancehall album. In it, one of the producers low-key confirmed Rih’s plans to release two different records (the other being a pop album).
“Their whole thing was, ‘Yo, we’re gonna make this [album] real dancehall, [real] Caribbean,’” says the producer.
“Rihanna is Bajan, so let’s make this a full project like that. To me, it hasn’t been going that way. They’re kind of mixing it up, putting in the pop. If the reggae artists and producers won’t get the chance on the pop album, at least let us survive on the dancehall album. They’re changing up the direction continuously.”
Adding fuel to the fire, Rihanna’s hairdresser reportedly teased that she is indeed working on more than one single album.
Rihanna would appreciate it if we’d stop harassing her about the new tunes, but I just don’t feel like letting up.
🚨 R9 EMERGENCY 🚨
Yusef (Rihanna’s hairdresser) was at a Paris club last night. According to him, R9 IS COMING SOON NEXT YEAR and is not just one single album.
R9 WON’T BE JUST ONE ALBUM.

UPDATE // APRIL 26:
Rihanna’s dual-album release is full steam ahead!
A new report from Metro doubles down on singer-songwriter Elijah Blake’s claims that Riri is working on two new records simultaneously. They claim one is chock-full of radio friendly bops – the other is a little more dangerous.
“Rihanna wasn’t happy with how her last album performed – even though she loved how it turned out, she knows she needs a new project full of smash hits to avoid two back-to-back flops,” said a source, “She’s currently recording two albums – one full of chart-friendly songs, and another made up of moody and experimental tracks – and is considering releasing a double disc if she feels the songs won’t mesh well on the same album.” They add: “Rihanna knows she hasn’t had a hit as big as Umbrella [which was released in 2007] in a while, and is determined to change that with this album.”
EARLIER // APRIL 11:
Because two is better than one!
Wow, Riri’s ANTi followup is already taking flight. Following the news that her next project sounds similar to 2010’s Loud (“S&M,” “What’s My Name” featuring Drake, “Love The Way You Lie”), there’s a rumor that she’ll put forth TWO records instead of just one. A giving queen.
Singer-songwriter Elijah Blake, who helped craft “No Love Allowed” off 2012’s Unapologetic, recently commented on a fan’s Instagram post that dogged the pop star for focusing her attention on her ever-expanding beauty empire in lieu of releasing new music. That’s because, according to Blake, she’s got a lot more in the works than we anticipated.
“Lol u do know she’s in the studio working on 2 whole albums though right?” He posted a second comment with the word “allegedly” and a smirking emoji.
All I see is signs. All I see is dollar signs. Come through, Rih!
