Pink Says Radio Doesn’t Play Artists Over 35 (“Unless You’re Beyoncé”)

Who run the world? Pink.

Who run the world? Pink.

Pink braced herself for what she believed was the inevitable: radio wouldn’t show love for her new song “What About Us,” the first taste off the singer’s forthcoming record Beautiful Trauma (out Oct. 13). Despite selling 16 million albums, 45 million digital songs and having 23 songs in the Billboard Top 40 (four of which went No. 1), Pink says she prepared for disappointment when it came to radio play.

Pink Says Dr. Luke Is “Not A Good Person”

“I had the whole sit-down, you know: ‘Just be prepared, they don’t play girls over 35 on Top 40 radio,’” the singer told the New York Times.

“There are exceptions, but they’re songs, not artists — unless you’re Beyoncé.”

Pink’s new single is actually gaining spins on radio and for all intents and purposes is performing considerably well. Someone should probably tell her that.
