An article in yesterday’s USA Today says that the name “Paris” started becoming a more popular baby name for girls in 2002 and 2003 after Paris Hilton started appearing in the media. And she’s not the only celebrity to inspire new parents when they’re choosing a name. Looking at data from the Social Security Administration shows that as celebrities become more and more popular, so do their names or the names of the characters they portray, says the article.
On the other hand, some celebrities may be giving their name a bad image. The name Britney grew popular as Britney Spears started hitting the airwaves, but as she changed her image to be sexier, the popularity of the name dropped off. However, USA Today predicts that name Sean may become a popular baby name after Britney named her son Sean Preston earlier this month.
