One Direction Discuss Their Fifth Album; Release New Fragrance.
1D says new album is “a lot more rocky”.
At the launch of their fourth fragrance, the biggest band in the world share details on what to expect from album #5.
As the European leg of their 2015 world tour comes to a close, One Direction are gearing up to release their fifth album towards the end of the year, and appeared in London on Friday to promote Between Us, their latest perfume.
The band spoke to reporters at a special media conference/tea party about what to expect from their first Zayn-less collection of songs:
“It’s really positive…I don’t want to give too much away, it’s an obvious but not too drastic change from the last record.”
So no Zayn (or Naughty Boy) diss track, then? Guess we’ll have to stick to checking Louis’s twitter for that!
“Right, this is the big dog. I don’t usually like listening to our albums from the past, because it’s much younger and if you had an old pair of clothes you wouldn’t wear them [but] I have been putting this one in the car all the time…”
I’m of the same opinion. One Direction’s sound has evolved way past their first two albums, from teen pop to adult/alternative rock.
It’s a lot more rocky. The phrase Fleetwood Mac has been thrown around a couple of times, which is not a bad thing.
For younger readers, Fleetwood Mac are a 1970s rock band. You might recognize singer Stevie Nicks as the woman who provided Destiny’s Child’s song Bootylicious with that endlessly funky bassline. 1D’s song Fireproof has often been compared to Fleetwood Mac’s song Dreams.
The fact that we’re able to do our fifth album is really great, we’re really excited about people hearing it, we think it’s our best. It’s fun when you get in the studio and listen back to songs back and get excited about hearing them.
The band also released a wacky new commercial to promote their parfum. The ad takes the opportunity to spoof the over the top dramaticness we’re accustomed to seeing in most celebrity endorsement spots. Check it out:
Clued-in fans have noted the events in the trailer do actually carry some meaning, specifically related to the lyrics to their song Spaces.
