One Direction are set to perform at Wembley Stadium as a quartet for the first time.

Showing no signs of slowing down (despite what random former N*Sync members might believe) One Direction will take the stage at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball this June.

Band member Liam Payne just confirmed with Capital Breakfast a short time ago, that the band will be appearing at the festival, held at Wembley Stadium, which has seen acts like Miley Cyrus and Pharrell Williams perform there in the past.

“Wembley is obviously one of the best places to play in the world, so I’m well excited!”

Payne also confirmed the band will be playing songs from their sorely underrated, and most recent, album FOUR, which was released less than six months ago, but the band appears to have already moved on in favour of working on their fifth album.

FOUR garnered the group some of the best reviews of their career and is widely considered by fans to be their best and most mature work yet. One of the songs, Fireproof, was released for free as a promotional single and garnered 1.1 million downloads in just 24 hours.

The festival may end up serving as a way for 1D to give the album the publicity it deserves, as only two singles were released and barely any of the album tracks feature on their current tour setlist.

Tickets for the festival go on sale the 1st of May, from 8am.
