Normani and 6lack join forces on new collaboration, “Waves.”

The sultry, seductive new tune is the latest release from Normani following a dual release with Calvin Harris (listen to “Checklist,” featuring WizKid, and “Slow Down,” here).

On it, Normani’s smoky tone oozes over an Asian-influenced background.

“Thank God for the weekend / I’mma go out with my friends, I’d rather let the liquor sink in,” she croons over a brooding beat. “Then the parts of you that I should not be thinking / When I’m with someone else, it’s feeling like I’m cheating / I just might go off the deep end.”

It appears Normani is throwing a handful of tracks out and seeing what sticks. Her debut album will reportedly debut in the first half of 2019.

I’d say “Waves” is the most intriguing release of the three thus far, because it doesn’t sound like anything else out there right now. The EDM-tinged bangers continually making the rounds… I’m exhausted. “Waves” is a refreshing breath of R&B pop.
