Some time next year.

Niall Horan Confirms One Direction Break

Rumors ran rampant on Sunday One Direction was disbanding, and it appears true.

The Sun poured gasoline on the fire when they reported One Direction are taking a break starting March of 2016 to pursue solo projects. This means they won’t tour their fifth studio album and stop all momentum the band’s gained since their record breaking success with “Drag Me Down” after Zayn Malik’s departure earlier this year.

Band-member Niall Horan confirmed the break via Twitter on Monday (Aug. 24), saying: “Ok so Lots of rumours going round. We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year. Don’t worry though, we still have lots we want to achieve ! Can’t wait for you to hear all the new music we have for you and to perform Some new songs as the tor[sic] continues! Love you all xx.”

It is thought they will embark on an aggressive promotional tour before disbanding, including television appearances, performances and interviews. Their last full concert will be at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield on October 31.

Their new record is rumored to drop later this year in time for Christmas.

“All the boys have a massive amount of options available to them,” a source told The Sun. “It’s an exciting time because for the last five years they’ve always put the band first. Sony definitely want to secure a solo record from Harry. He has been building up to this moment for a long time and there is also a lot of interest in him from Hollywood, but they’re all going to be successful in their own right. They have the best contacts and a massive fanbase.”
