Happy New Music Weekend (December 21–23)!

Every Friday, the music industry bombards the stream waves with new tunes. There’s too many to keep up with, so BreatheHeavy’s answer to that is our New Music Friday post (honestly, we’re just not that interested in writing 20 individual posts every Friday morning, and it appears you’re not that interested in reading 20 individual posts every Friday morning). We’ve renamed this weekly post to New Music Weekend, because you probably won’t even get around to reading this until Sunday night when the Monday blues creep in. Now that that’s out of the way…

Maluma with Anitta and Becky G – “Mala Mía” Remix (Song)

Listeners streamed the original hundreds of millions of times, so Maluma decided to breathe new life into “Mala Mía” by adding Brazilian pop princess Anitta and Becky G to it. The re-working is a perfect party anthem, and I imagine when the video debuts the two lovely ladies will drape themselves over Maluma like the play boy that he is. Life’s really not fair like that, but at least the remix is lit.

5 Seconds of Summer and Julia Michaels – “Lie To Me” (Song)

Speaking of remixes… 5SOS added Julia Michaels to a re-working of Youngblood track, “Lie To Me.” It doesn’t stray too far from the original sans Julia, and that’s ok. It’s a soft, well-written winter power ballad either way, but Michaels vocals is a Midas touch.

Ally Brooke – “The Truth Is In There” (Song)

Ally’s new song, “The Truth Is In There,” is obviously an empowering, self-assuring bop. It sounds like something you’d hear during the credits of a PG-rated Disney movie, and I respect that. Adulthood can be pretty volatile some times, so a carefree, guilty pleasure pop gem like this is much needed.

Sabrina Carpenter – “Paris” (Music Video)

Sabrina Carpenter just dropped a new music video for “Paris,” the latest single from the singer’s new album, Singular: Act I. In it, Sabrina slinks around her Parisian hotel room and its surroundings. It’s worth noting that there’s no love interest joining Sabrina in the video, because despite waltzing through the city of love, her SO is miles away in L.A.

Happy New Music Weekend!
