New Music Friday: Troye Sivan, Dua Lipa, Backstreet Boys, Little Mix, Ashley Tisdale, Tori Kelly, Hailee Steinfeld & More

Happy New Music Friday (January 25 –– 27)!

Every Friday, BreatheHeavy posts a roundup of songs/videos that deserve your undivided attention. It’s just not possible to fill you in on the ENDLESS stream of content that spills onto the Internet every week (/don’t want to), but this means you are quite possibly missing out on some very good new tunes, and that’s not what’s up.

Troye Sivan & Lauv –– “I’m So Tired…” (Song)

If you’re tired of love songs and love repetition, “I’m So Tired” is your jam. Troye and Lauv team up together on the bitesized bop. If you’re exhausted from the pursuit of finding love, so instead you throw yourself into a nightclub every weekend to distract your racing thoughts, “I’m So Tired” is your life’s new soundtrack.

Dua Lipa – “Swan Song” (Music Video)

Dua contributes a soundtrack song titled “Swan Song” to the upcoming film, Alita: Battle Angel. On it, the pop star sings about new beginnings amidst an apocalyptic age. “I I can’t lie / I’m scared to open my eyes / ‘Cause what if I find nothing at all,” she sings over anthemic, soaring production. I personally prefer “New Rules” Dua, but it’s fun to watch the singer dancing till the world ends.

Backstreet Boys – DNA (Album)

Does anything else in this post really matter? The Backstreet Boys just dropped their new album, DNA, and it’s massive. The record features contributions from Ryan Tedder, Shawn Mendes and a few other production heavy hitters. Kick off the streaming festivities with “New Love” then “Passionate.” Bops for days.

Little Mix & Ty Dolla $ign – “Think About Us” (Song)

Low-key disappointed that Little Mix reworked “Think About Us” to include Ty Dolla $ign. Nothing against $, but their latest album, LM5, exudes female empowerment, so it feels a bit off-brand to include a male feature after the fact. That, and it doesn’t elevate the track much. Sorry, ladies. It’s a no from me.

Ashley Tisdale –– “Love Me & Let Me Go” (Song)

Ashley’s new tune is a guilty pop pleasure. On “Love Me & Let Me Go,” the singer pleads with a significant other to set her free, because that’s true love. “Love me and let me go,” she sings. “Walk away / Finally let me breathe / Stop being so obsessed with me.” My new mantra.

Tori Kelly –– “Change Your Mind” (Song)

Tori Kelly and chill to the singer’s new tune, “Change Your Mind.” The laidback, mellow melody is an honest snap shot at Tori’s uphill battle to convince her father that her now-husband, André Murillo, is her one and only.

Drax Project & Hailee Steinfeld –– “Woke Up Late”

Ever experience PPD? Post-party depression? It’s when you recall the events of the night before and realize, ‘yeah, I made awful decisions under the influence and I’m probably a terrible human being.’ Drax Project and Hailee Steinfeld’s new song is the literal opposite of that. It’s about “wrapping your head around the adventure of the night before and ultimately deciding that you’re cool with it.” Glad to know there are still songs that describe a feeling I’ve never felt before.
