Justin Timberlake, Drake, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Kanye West and more are sharing their grief over the killing of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge on Tuesday.
Video footage of police officers subduing and then killing a man named Alton Sterling has gone viral, and there’s major outrage.
CNN reports Sterling was known as the “CD man,” labeling him a “laid-back guy who would sell tunes and DVDs outside the convenience store where he was shot.”
“Alton was a respected man. He was beloved in the community. He did not deserve the treatment and this excessive force that was exerted on him by the police department,” said Edmond Jordan, an attorney representing Sterling’s family. Now Sterling’s family is “grieving and mourning for an unnecessary loss of life,” the attorney said.
“Alton was out there selling CDs, trying to make a living. He was doing it with the permission of the store owner, so he wasn’t trespassing or anything like that. He wasn’t involved in any criminal conduct,” his attorney added.
Reports claim Sterling had a gun in his back pocket which officers removed.
“They told him not to move,” said Abdullah Muflahi, the owner of the Triple S Food Mart in Baton Rouge where Sterling was killed. “He was asking them what he did wrong.”
Muflahi said the officers also used a stun gun on Sterling at least once before shooting.
The one closest to Sterling’s legs yelled “gun,” and the shots followed.

Praying for justice & peace in #AltonSterling case. Leadership roles(i.e. police) MUST require real accountability. The pattern MUST change?

1) In the interest of time, would ye noble patriots please provide a list of infractions punishable by spontaneous public execution? Thanks!

It saddens me that 5 kids are growing up without their father. 2 white Police Officers killed Alton Sterling while he was standing outside a store selling CD's. These officers got a call that a man was outside the store with a gun but for some reason the officers were wearing Body Cam's that weren't connected & recording. Wrestled him down to the ground with no warrant to do so & shot him in the chest & back!! When is America & the judicial system that's suppose to protect us, gonna make these officers who are killing black men take responsibility for what's going on. This is literally getting away with MURDER & it continues to happen #RipAltonSterling
Just imagine what the police report said before they knew This was recorded… What a coincidence they saying the body cams did not work, it's sad! I was found guilty of pointing a gun at the 2 strike force officers in the middle of a full blown raid…. They came at least 7 cops at one time and not a single shot fired! This was b4 cameras was available… I take these situations serious when I see so many of my people losing their lives and freedom to the people they say are suppose to protect us!i got 16 years of probation for being lied on and back and forth to jail under strict supervision has made my life a living hell dealing with the system! Just imagine the people that don't have a voice! Something has to happen soon …. It can't just be social media post and conversations when they continue to destroy us like this! #imreadytostandup
