MTV’s VMA Show Ratings Take A Dip

The numbers are in! See how the VMA’s fared.

The VMA’s ratings are cool for the summer.

No amount of staged or authentic moments could help the MTV VMA’s this year.

Despite nabbing the ever-controversial Miley Cyrus to host the awards show, perpetuating and dissolving feuds between Cyrus and Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift, awarding Kanye West with the Video Vanguard Award or inviting Britney Spears as a presenter, the ceremony saw lukewarm numbers.

According to newly reports numbers via Billboard, the show was broadcasted on Viacom’s 10 networks, including MTV, MTV2, VH1, VH1 Classic, CMT, Logo, BET, Centric, Comedy Central and TV Land and saw a combined averaged of nearly 10 million viewers during the live airing. However, it should be noted the VMAs reached only 5 million viewers during the live 9 p.m. telecast on MTV – 3 million less than 2014 with 8.3 million viewers and 10.1 million in 2013.

However, MTV did boast the show was the most tweeted non-sports program ever with 21.4 million tweets and reached 11.8 million people (only outperformed by the Super Bowl). 16 million people had 39 million Facebook interactions related to the VMAs.

At the end of the day though, numbers are just that… numbers!
