MNEK is tongue tied.

MNEK is tongue tied.

MNEK has lent his talents to Madonna, Beyonce, Kylie Minogue and many more of music’s gargantuan pop titans, but the UK singer-songwriter is giving his own work some serious TLC with a new song titled “Tongue,” the first taste off his forthcoming record out later this year.

The track oozes a delicious beat over MNEK’s tantric, breathy vocals, but the lyrics are actually quite innocent. It’s about falling in love but not having the guts to say so.

“I’m putting both hands over my mouth / I can only hope nothing’s going to come out,” he sings over Anton Rudberg’s otherworldly production. “There it is on the tip of my tongue, I think I love you.”

“‘Tongue’ is one of my favorite songs from the album. It’s fun, it’s ****, and it’s different to anything I’ve put out before,” MNEK tells The Fader. “It is an indication of me taking risks with my new music. The album is something I’m so proud of because it’s an audio world I’ve created which is a true body of work. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

MNEK unleashed a video for the track. Check that out below:
