The pop star wears her heart on her sleeve on “Slide Away.”

Breakups ****, and Miley Cyrus is in the midst of a very public one right now. Not long after reps confirmed her split from Liam Hemsworth, Miley was caught kissing Brody Jenner’s ex, Kaitlynn Carter, on a yacht in Italy.

Miley hasn’t really touched on the split just yet, but her new song, “Slide Away,” is clearly aimed at her imploding personal life.

“Once upon a time it was paradise / once upon a time I was paralyzed / think I’m going to miss these harbor lights, but it’s time to let it go,” she sings over a somber melody. “I want my house in the hills / Don’t want the whiskey and pills / I don’t give up easily, but I don’t think I’m down.”

At one point, Miley was singing about sunshine in “Malibu,” but things are a bit darker right now. On “Slide Away,” she sings about slipping into the ocean and away from the known.

As for the pills and whiskey reference in the lyrics, TMZ published a report that claimed one of the reasons for the couples’ split was an alleged substance abuse problem with Hemsworth, and it was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
