UPDATE: Miguel broke down in tears singing the son at London’s Wireless Festival.

Before performing “How Many” at London’s Wireless Festival on Friday night, Miguel broke down in tears.

“We can’t let **** just blow over and not take action anymore,” Miguel told the crowd. “Look, our children will inherit this Earth when we’re gone. What are we leaving for them? What are we doing for them now, not tomorrow? Now!”

“How many black lives does it take to wake a change,” Miguel wonders in his new song “How Many.”

The nation had a tough week surrounding the racially charged Black Lives Matter movement. Outrage spread like wild fire following the unjust deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by police officers. Stars like Beyonce, Drake, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande and many more took to social media to urge fans to help make the world a better place, but unfortunately their efforts couldn’t stop five police officers from being shot to death by snipers at a Black Lives Matter rally in Dallas, TX on Thursday (July 7).

In light of the chaos, Chris Brown shared two songs titled “My Friend” and “A Lot Of Love.” Jay Z also released a song Thursday night called “Spiritual” which addresses police brutality, and singer Miguel is the next in line.

He dropped a new tune today (July 8) that poses questions we all want answers to. He recorded it in his London hotel room “between the hours of 4 a.m. and around 7 a.m. when I passed out,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’ll update this song every week until it’s complete. Please feel free to share.”
