Trainor shares her Carribean-influenced track off ‘Thank You.’

Meghan Trainor’s latest Thank You cut is a cool one-way trip to loneliness.

Trainor tells them what they already know in her next promotional tune “Better” featuring Yo Gotti. The song one of several Trainor’s teased ahead of her forthcoming album’s release on May 13. The “No” singer’s mellow tone melts over the island-themed production, cooing a laid-back vocal with an abrasive message: “You deserve to be alone / And I deserve better / Better than you.”

Meghan Trainor Teams Up With LunchMoney Lewis On “I Love Me”

Earlier this year, Trainor said she “wanted to get all my influences” on the record, and “Better” is a glorious example. She added plans to “show everything from my caribbean side to my love for Bruno Mars and Aretha Franklin and even some Elvis vibes, anyone I grew up listening to. I was trying to show the world what I love. I wanted to do something that’s not on the radio, but kind of different.”

Fun fact: Trainor references Yo Gotti’s song “Down in the DM” in a separate Thank You track “Watch Me Do.”
