One year ago today, Britney Spears released “Perfume,” and the world was never the same.

September 23, 2013: Britney mentions the song for the first time on Good Morning America. She said it was “one of the most beautiful songs I have recorded in a LONG time” and “is both beautiful and heartbreaking. Evokes SO much emotion every time I hear it.”

Oct. 27: “Perfume” co-writer, Chris Braide, confirms it is the second single. He said: “When I was producing her vocals, it was obvious to me why she’s still one of the greatest pop stars ever. Unmistakably Britney, effortlessly iconic.”

Oct. 30: Sia confirms Will.I.Am produced it. Meltdowns ensue.
